About the Organisation
This organisation operates at a national scale in a highly regulated, safety-critical environment. Its workforce spans frontline operational teams, technical specialists and corporate functions, all working together to deliver services that genuinely matter to communities every day.
It is a complex environment where decisions carry weight, the pace is real, and the work is meaningful. For HR professionals who enjoy substance, challenge and purpose, it offers a unique and rewarding setting.
About the Role
This is a senior HR partnering role for someone who wants to be deeply involved in the work. You will sit alongside leaders as a trusted advisor, managing complex people matters while helping them build confidence and capability in how they lead their teams.
You will be part of a small, highly capable team that supports leaders across the organisation with end-to-end case management and practical advice. The role is hands-on and fast-moving. You will regularly balance multiple matters at once, interpret different industrial instruments, and help leaders navigate sensitive and high-risk situations with clarity and confidence.
If you enjoy being close to the action, working through ambiguity, and having real influence on outcomes, this role will suit you.
What You’ll Do
- Act as a trusted business partner to leaders, advising on complex ER and IR matters from start to finish.
- Lead and manage sensitive casework including grievances, misconduct, investigations and performance matters.
- Coach leaders through difficult conversations, helping them apply sound judgment and fair process.
- Interpret and apply legislation, awards and enterprise agreements with confidence and accuracy.
- Support organisational change, including consultation, restructures and workforce impacts.
- Build leader capability through ongoing partnering, feedback and practical guidance.
- Contribute to projects that improve HR processes, consistency and employee experience.
About You
You are an experienced HR professional with strong employee relations capability and a genuine interest in business partnering. You are comfortable managing complex cases, confident working with senior leaders, and able to remain calm and pragmatic when priorities compete.
You are known for being approachable, fair and credible. Leaders trust your advice because it is practical, balanced and well-considered.
You will also bring:
- Proven experience managing ER casework in a large or complex organisation.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, awards and enterprise agreements.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to influence without ego and listen with intent.
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, business or a related field.
Why This Role
This is an opportunity to do real HR work in an environment where your expertise is valued and your advice has genuine impact. It is challenging at times, but deeply rewarding for those who enjoy complexity, responsibility and partnership.
You will have the flexibility of hybrid working, the security of a permanent role, and the chance to work on meaningful, complex matters that will continue to stretch and develop your capability.
