Our client is a large, nationally significant organisation operating within a highly complex, safety-critical environment. With thousands of employees across frontline operations and corporate services, they provide essential services that keep communities safe, connected, and moving.

Currently undergoing an exciting transformation, they are reshaping their service model and investing in new ways of supporting their people. As part of this, they are building their Employee Support team and this newly created role offers a chance to make an immediate operational impact.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, high-profile HR position where you’ll partner closely with leaders across a geographically dispersed and highly regulated workforce. Your focus will be on running investigations, managing complex cases, and building leadership capability to solve people challenges at the coalface.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading investigations and managing complex ER matters, including grievances, misconduct, and performance issues.
  • Coaching and advising operational and corporate leaders to proactively manage people matters.
  • Acting as the escalation point for high-risk cases and providing pragmatic, solutions-focused advice.
  • Analysing workforce data to identify trends and recommend operational improvements.
  • Supporting the rollout of frameworks around performance, conduct, and organisational change.
  • Building trusted relationships with line leaders and strengthening leadership capability.

This is a role for someone who thrives in dynamic, unionised and operationally complex environments where problems aren’t always clear-cut, and solutions require resilience, judgement, and commercial acumen.

About You

You will bring:

  • Significant HR advisory and case management experience in large, complex or unionised environments.
  • Expertise in investigations, enterprise agreements, and employment legislation.
  • A proven ability to coach and influence senior leaders through challenging scenarios.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in sectors such as transport, aviation, infrastructure, health, mining or utilities (highly regarded).
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in HR, Business, or a related field (desirable).
