About the Company

Our client is seeking an experienced EL1 Senior Financial Reporting Advisor to support a review of aged care provider financial reporting within the Quarterly Financial Report (QFR) and Aged Care Financial Report (ACFR) data collections. This engagement will contribute to ensuring financial reporting frameworks remain fit-for-purpose, aligned to changing policy and program settings, and streamlined to reduce administrative burden for aged care providers.


About the Role/s

Working as part of a small, high-performing team, you will review, evaluate and provide expert advice on proposed changes to aged care provider financial reporting requirements. The role will focus on strengthening the QFR and ACFR data collections, improving data integrity and usability, and designing a multi-dimensional chart of accounts to support the effective flow of financial data through departmental IT systems.

  • Provide specialist analysis and technical advice on aged care provider financial reporting matters.
  • Review, propose, analyse and assess requests for changes to QFR and ACFR data collections and definitions, ensuring alignment with prescribed Principles and Drivers.
  • Design and develop a multi-dimensional chart of accounts to manage financial data flows across reporting and IT systems.
  • Develop and update reporting templates, guidance materials and supporting resources for aged care providers.
  • Lead the preparation of briefing materials, reports and presentations to inform stakeholder consultation and support Senior Executive decision-making.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement across aged care providers and key sector bodies, fostering collaborative and effective working relationships.
  • Coordinate work activities including planning, scheduling, risk management and progress reporting within a complex and evolving policy environment.


About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical accounting expertise and the ability to quickly grasp the complexities of aged care financial reporting frameworks.

  • CPA or CA qualifications, or an accounting/finance degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting capability, including experience analysing financial data and providing clear, evidence-based advice.
  • Experience in health and/or aged care sector financial reporting (highly desirable).
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, concise and accurate technical advice.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction, apply critical thinking and sound judgement, and solve complex problems in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency across reporting, analysis and documentation.
  • Proven planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a high-pressure setting.
