Davidson is partnering with a government client seeking a EL1 Senior Contracts Advisor to support the delivery of critical response capabilities, including search and rescue and pollution response and prevention services. This role sits within a dynamic response-focused environment where strong contract management and procurement expertise is essential.
About the Role
This role is responsible for the end‑to‑end management of contracts and procurement activities associated with response assets and services. You will manage outsourced service arrangements, support procurement processes, and contribute to operational readiness through effective stakeholder engagement and commercial oversight.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage the day‑to‑day activities of multiple outsourced contracts, including preparing, interpreting, reviewing, maintaining and negotiating contracts and contract variations.
- Prepare, monitor and manage contract budgets, ensuring effective financial oversight and value for money outcomes.
- Monitor and report on contract performance, service delivery and system availability.
- Assist with the development of technical specifications for the procurement, refurbishment and enhancement of response capabilities and equipment.
- Coordinate procurement activities, including the development of procurement documentation, input into scope and operational requirements, and preparation of draft contracts with internal and external advice as required.
- Develop, coordinate and manage procurement and evaluation plans, reports and associated documentation.
- Coordinate and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships and communications.
- Support other procurement activities across the Response Division as required.
- Assist with selected aspects of operational response to pollution incidents, search and rescue incidents, or response exercises as needed.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong government contract management and procurement experience, coupled with the ability to work collaboratively in a complex operational environment.
You will demonstrate:
- Proven experience managing contracts within a government or regulated environment, including contract planning, coordination and performance monitoring.
- Sound understanding of government procurement frameworks and processes.
- Experience developing procurement and evaluation documentation and managing end‑to‑end procurement activities.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively and value diverse contributions.
- Clear and respectful communication skills, with the ability to actively listen and respond thoughtfully.
- A demonstrated ability to understand service delivery requirements and translate them into effective contractual and procurement outcomes.
- Strong organisational capability, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deliver disciplined, value‑for‑money outcomes.
- An awareness of risk considerations within procurement and service delivery environments.
This is a federal government role and requires citizenship to engage.
