An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced EL1 Communications Leader to join a high-profile Federal Government agency operating within the digital health and national technology reform space. This is a contract opportunity within a complex, nationally significant environment delivering large-scale digital programs that impact millions of Australians.
The Role
As an EL1 Assistant Director – Communications, you will lead the development and delivery of strategic communications and marketing initiatives across multiple programs of work.
Operating with a high level of autonomy, you will:
- Develop and implement strategic communications plans aligned to organisational priorities
- Deliver integrated campaigns across owned, earned and paid media channels
- Provide expert advice to senior leaders and executive stakeholders
- Lead and mentor communications professionals to achieve high-quality outcomes
- Manage complex, sensitive and high-profile messaging
- Interpret insights and performance data to refine strategy and measure impact
- Represent the organisation in cross-agency forums and stakeholder engagements
This is a leadership role requiring sound judgement, strategic thinking and the ability to operate in politically and operationally sensitive environments.
About You
You are a senior communications professional with:
- Experience operating at EL1 (or equivalent) level within the APS or comparable environment
- Strong strategic communications planning capability
- Experience managing integrated campaigns across digital and traditional channels
- Confidence advising senior executives and influencing stakeholders
- Experience leading teams and building capability
- Ability to manage complexity, risk and competing priorities
You must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
