- Lead high-impact safety and wellbeing reform
- Shape culture, governance and psychosocial safety
- Influence at executive and system-wide level
TAFE Queensland is the state’s largest and most experienced vocational education and training provider, with a proud history of serving Queensland communities for more than 140 years. As a statutory body with a broad public purpose, it plays a vital role in delivering education and training outcomes across the state.
We are seeking an accomplished executive leader to take on this critical and highly visible portfolio, leading workplace health and safety, psychosocial safety and organisational wellbeing at a time of significant transformation. This is a rare opportunity to shape an evolving function, build enterprise-wide capability, and drive meaningful change in an environment where safety and wellbeing are central to performance, trust and culture.
In this role, you will lead strategy and operational oversight across workplace health and safety, wellbeing, governance, systems and reporting. You will provide authoritative advice on legislative obligations, risk and reform priorities, while building the infrastructure, frameworks and credibility needed to deliver sustainable outcomes across a large and complex organisation. Psychosocial risk will be a key area of focus, alongside a broader wellbeing agenda that extends beyond standalone initiatives to include education, capability uplift, occupational health, rehabilitation and return to work.
This role calls for an executive who can combine technical depth with strategic influence. You will be comfortable leading major reform, navigating complexity, and engaging confidently with senior executives, unions and stakeholders across diverse operational settings. You will bring a disciplined, evidence-based approach to governance and risk, together with the leadership presence to build trust, visibility and momentum early in the role.
About you
You are a credible and contemporary executive leader with deep expertise in workplace health, safety and wellbeing in large, complex environments. You bring demonstrated success leading enterprise-wide strategy, cultural change and governance uplift, with the ability to balance operational delivery with long-term transformation. You are skilled at distilling complexity, influencing at executive level, and building high-trust partnerships that support reform and accountability.
Why TAFE Queensland
This is an opportunity to lead one of the most important people and risk portfolios in the organisation. You will play a pivotal role in shaping safer, healthier and more resilient workplaces across a system that touches communities throughout Queensland. With strong executive visibility and broad organisational impact, this role offers the chance to leave a lasting mark on culture, capability and performance.
