The Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) is responsible for staging two iconic international events, the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne and the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix in Phillip Island. Igniting passion through unforgettable experiences, the AGPC’s events make substantial contributions to Victoria’s visitor economy, boosting tourism, hotel occupancy and visitor spend. The organisation’s 2025 Formula 1® event boasted record numbers of more than 465,000 attendees. The 2024 MotoGP™ drew approximately 80,000 attendees.
A newly created role, the Division Manager - Risk will ensure effective risk management practices are established, implemented and embedded across the organisation and events, with the overall aim of creating a thriving, high performing, sustainable and safe organisation. The Division Manager – Risk will work to elevate the way risk is managed, introducing effective controls and mitigation strategies, and partnering broadly across the organisation to ensure alignment and engagement from the team. You will oversee strategic, reputational, event, operational, resources, and financial risk, while also working closely with the Operations team to ensure alignment and to support the identification and management of event-specific risks. Additionally, you will play a leading role in strategy and management relating to internal audit, and business continuity and disaster recovery systems and processes.
To be successful in this role you will be a proven leader in strategic risk management, bringing a contemporary approach to how risks are best identified, mitigated and managed at an enterprise level. You will have demonstrated experience in building rigour and best practice around frameworks, systems, and policies, and fully embedding risk management into an organisation’s ways of working. Your engagement and listening skills will be second-to-none, and your approach to business partnering, influencing and empowering stakeholders to take ownership of risk within their own functions will be exceptional. Your experience could be within the public sector and the Victorian Government Risk Management Framework, or private sector experience using ISO31000 will be easily translatable. You are experienced in partnering, presenting and influencing at Board and Committee level, and will bring an open mind and willingness to work with the business, test new ways of doing things, and bring an element of pragmatism. This role is not just a policy role, it’s about practical application of risk management, and will suit an autonomous and proactive operator who relishes the opportunity to contribute to whole-of-organisation success.
