- Establish and lead the Renewable Energy TAFE Centre of Excellence from the ground up
- Build and manage partnerships across government, industry, and the TAFE network
- Drive regional growth and community outcomes
TAFE Gippsland has been selected to lead the establishment of the Victorian Renewable Energy TAFE Centre of Excellence, a flagship, state and federal backed initiative designed to support Victoria’s transition to a clean energy future. Positioned at the centre of a transforming regional economy, the Centre will operate as a “virtual” model, connecting multiple TAFEs, industry partners, and government to deliver coordinated, high-impact workforce solutions. Backed by initial government investment and with a mandate to become self-sustaining, the Centre will play a critical role in identifying skills demand, shaping training responses, and building the capability required to support the renewable energy sector across the state.
Reporting to the CEO, the Director will lead the end-to-end establishment of the Centre, translating strategy into delivery and building the operating model from the ground up. This is a highly visible role requiring close engagement with government, including the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action and the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions, as well as Commonwealth stakeholders, industry, and the broader TAFE network. You will lead the development of industry-aligned programs, establish governance and reporting frameworks, and oversee multiple workstreams to ensure delivery of measurable outcomes. A key focus will be negotiating partnerships and securing co-investment to support the Centre’s long-term sustainability.
You are a senior, commercially minded leader with strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation capability, and the presence and judgement to operate confidently across government, industry, and the TAFE sector. You bring experience delivering complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives from concept through to execution, building teams, and translating strategy into practical outcomes. You are adept at navigating government processes, managing contracts and funding arrangements, and influencing across organisational boundaries to achieve results. Experience in renewable energy, the VET sector, or large-scale workforce and skills initiatives will be highly regarded. Above all, you bring the ability to lead through ambiguity, build trusted relationships, and deliver tangible, outcomes focused impact.
