From the Alps to Gariwerd, Wilsons Promontory to St Kilda Pier, Parks Victoria manages some of the most spectacular parts of the state on behalf of all Victorians. Responsible for over 4 million hectares of parks and reserves, local ports and waterways that together attract more than 100 million visits annually, the organisation plays a vital role in enabling people to enjoy Victoria’s great outdoors, while protecting our natural environment and cultural heritage, the things that make these places so special.

Parks Victoria is a statutory authority of the Victorian Government, and works in close partnership with Traditional Owners, communities, user groups and others to deliver positive outcomes for people, the environment and vibrant local economies. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a values-led organisation with a vital purpose, a proud legacy and a future of transformation.

Reporting to the Executive Director Strategy and Programs, the Director Monitoring and Management Planning leads a multidisciplinary team focused on park planning, ecological monitoring, public land strategy and reporting. It plays a critical part in shaping how Parks Victoria manages, monitors and reports on the condition and performance of the state’s most precious landscapes. With responsibility for developing contemporary Park Management Plans and providing input into statutory and strategic land use planning decisions, the Director will bring fresh thinking and set strategic objectives that will drive programs and delivery. The role is also responsible for statewide park condition monitoring and the development of public dashboards and reporting tools that support accountability by clearly demonstrating the effectiveness of land management delivery.

To be successful in this role you will be a technical leader, able to bridge environmental science, policy, planning and public accountability. You will have strong expertise in natural resource management, ecological monitoring or environmental planning, with a proven ability to lead high-performing technical teams, shaping a collaborative, performance-focused culture that empowers regional delivery while maintaining consistency with strategy and standards. You will be adept at translating policy into practice and data into decisions, while ensuring statutory alignment and effective environmental stewardship. This is an important leadership opportunity for someone who wants to shape how Victoria plans, protects and evaluates its public land assets for generations to come.
