Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director Infrastructure will lead Council’s Infrastructure Division, overseeing Assets and Engineering, including Major Projects, Roads and Facilities, Waste and Environment, including Parks and Gardens. As a member of the Executive Team, the Director will provide strategic advice to the Chief Executive Officer and Council and play a key role in shaping the organisation’s future direction.
The role will lead a significant portfolio of essential services, assets and capital works, with a focus on bringing contemporary thinking to program management, asset management and long term financial sustainability. With several exciting projects, including a depot relocation, opportunities to unlock land for housing in Horsham’s CBD, heritage redevelopment and regional sporting infrastructure, the Director will strengthen project governance, systems and delivery across the organisation. Beyond the technical portfolio of the role, this is an important leadership and culture role. The Director will build strong relationships across operational and corporate teams, support leaders to strengthen safety and governance, and contribute to reconnecting the organisation with its values.
To be successful, you will be an experienced senior leader with a strong background in infrastructure, asset management, capital works or a comparable operational portfolio. You will bring contemporary and strategic thinking, strong commercial and financial judgement, and the ability to lead complex programs and services through change. Importantly, you will be a collaborative and engaging people leader who can build trust with employees, unions, Councillors, government, community and other stakeholders. You will be driven and outcomes focused, while bringing a consultative leadership style that supports people, strengthens capability and builds a positive organisational culture. An engineering qualification will be advantageous but is not essential.
