Director, Financial Reporting

The Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) provides trusted advice and services to support the Northern Territory’s fiscal sustainability and economic growth. Within DTF, the Financial Analysis and Reporting division oversees the Territory’s fiscal strategy, manages consolidated financial reporting obligations, and maintains the Northern Territory Government’s financial management and accountability framework.

As Director, Financial Reporting, you will lead a dedicated team to deliver high-quality whole-of-government reports, ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards, and provide expert advice to agencies, senior executives, and the Treasurer. You will negotiate with stakeholders on complex financial management issues, including across agencies and intergovernmental forums, and influence policy outcomes that affect the Territory’s fiscal position.

We are seeking an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in preparing consolidated financial reports and ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards. Ideally, you will bring public sector or similar consolidated financial reporting experience, with a proven ability to deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality financial reporting.

Your strong analytical and problem-solving skills will allow you to interpret complex legislation and accounting standards and provide clear, practical advice to senior stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to influence outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups.
