Situated just 6km from Melbourne's CBD, Maribyrnong City Council is a diverse and vibrant city undergoing significant change in population growth, redevelopment, and a transitioning economy bringing an influx of new residents, businesses and opportunities. With a growing population approaching 100,000 residents, comes a need for sustainable infrastructure and services, greater connectivity and transport options, environmental sustainability, managed urban growth, liveability and improved community outcomes. Maribyrnong City Council is seeking a dynamic, contemporary people leader to help deliver on our vision for an inclusive, flourishing, progressive city that cares for both its residents and its environment. The position is located in the new Civic and Community Hub in Footscray with a modern and contemporary working environment.
Reporting to the CEO, the Director Community Life will lead a community-centred approach to service provision and community development, fostering active participation in community life and strong community engagement. The Director will support delivery of several exciting projects such as the Creative West initiative and play a key role in the activation of central Footscray. Providing strategic direction and inspirational leadership, this position is responsible for effective engagement across a diverse range of stakeholders (including elected members) ensuring that the changing needs of the community are met and that Council’s vision for Maribyrnong is realised. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will provide inspirational leadership across the Community Outcomes, Community Wellbeing, Creative Community and Inclusive Community portfolios.
To be considered for this role, the City of Maribyrnong is seeking applications from experienced executives or senior leaders who demonstrate contemporary, strategic, and visionary leadership that can drive positive organisational change. You have a proven track record leading, empowering multi-disciplinary teams during times of change and transformation, with strong commercial acumen. You will have experience with driving partnerships and collaboration in local government to create stronger, more connected communities. You are experienced in driving and embedding contemporary service delivery within a Local Government, public sector or broader service delivery environment and bring an ability to be agile and work at pace to deliver outcomes.
