Government & Defence

  • Executive leadership position shaping strategic direction
  • Provide strategic advice to ministers and government
  • Promote a high performing culture through reform delivery

The Northern Territory Department of Corrections is dedicated to fostering rehabilitation and community safety. They are committed to upholding justice through effective management and rehabilitation of offenders, ensuring a safe, secure and supportive environment. The Department strives to provide opportunities for personal growth and positive change, equipping prisoners with the skills they need to reintegrate into society successfully.

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking an accomplished senior executive to join its leadership team as Deputy Chief Executive, Strategy and Enabling Services. Reporting directly to the Commissioner, this vital role oversees the Department’s enabling functions, including infrastructure, financial services, corporate strategy, governance, WHS, policy, risk, and the Corrections College.

You will play a central role in shaping the Department’s strategic direction—driving reform priorities, service commissioning, and governance frameworks in alignment with whole-of-government objectives. Through the development of robust strategies and performance systems, you will enhance operational effectiveness and service delivery.

As Deputy Chief Executive, you will provide high-level strategic advice to executive and ministerial stakeholders, lead engagement in intergovernmental relations, and manage politically sensitive issues. You will also act as CEO of the Department’s Registered Training Organisation, overseeing the Corrections College to ensure workforce capability aligns with operational needs.

Your leadership will promote a culture of high performance, transparency, and continuous improvement. You will foster cross-agency collaboration, manage strategic partnerships, and provide fiscal oversight to support effective and sustainable operations across the Department.

To succeed, you will bring extensive executive experience in strategy, reform delivery, and enabling services. You will demonstrate strong financial management, governance expertise, and the ability to lead large, complex teams. Proven capabilities in stakeholder engagement, interagency collaboration, and performance-driven leadership are essential to success in this transformative role.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the strategic and operational capability of correctional services in the Northern Territory. Your leadership will directly influence the Department’s reform agenda, build organisational capacity, and ensure ethical, efficient delivery of services to the community.
