- Iconic brand, working for the betterment of the Victorian economy
At the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC), finance is not just about reporting cycles and compliance — it is about enabling the delivery of world-class sporting events that capture global attention. From the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix to MotoGP, AGPC operates at the intersection of elite sport, commercial performance and public accountability, with a vision to be globally renowned in sport and entertainment. Responsible for staging two iconic international events, the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne and the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix in Phillip Island, the AGPC ignites sporting passion through unforgettable experiences as the AGPC’s events make substantial contributions to Victoria’s visitor economy, boosting tourism, hotel occupancy and visitor spend.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the newly created position of Deputy CFO is a key member of the business services leadership team, responsible for driving financial excellence, strengthening business partnering and supporting strategic and operational decision-making across AGPC. This role offers a unique blend of technical financial leadership, commercial insight and event-driven operational exposure, with the opportunity to contribute to globally recognised events of national and international significance.
As Deputy Chief Financial Officer, you will partner closely with the CFO to lead a high-performing finance function and help shape the financial direction of the organisation. You will be at the centre of decision-making — translating financial insight into action, supporting executive leaders, and ensuring the organisation continues to deliver exceptional events with precision, discipline and impact.
This is a role that balances technical excellence with commercial acumen. You will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, compliance and audit, while also strengthening financial planning and analysis capability across the organisation. More importantly, you will act as a trusted advisor - providing timely, meaningful insight that enables smarter, faster decisions in an environment where timing and performance matter.
The Deputy CFO position requires a leader who is equally comfortable in the detail - ensuring regulatory obligations are met and financial controls are robust - as they are in the bigger picture, contributing to strategy, investment decisions and long-term financial sustainability. During event periods, the pace intensifies, and your ability to operate with agility and composure will be critical.
You will lead and develop a capable finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and service excellence. At the same time, you will build strong relationships across the organisation, acting as the bridge between finance and the broader leadership team to ensure financial thinking is embedded in everything AGPC does.
We are looking for a commercially astute and strategically minded finance leader - someone who brings both credibility and curiosity. You will have experience operating in complex, stakeholder-rich environments and the ability to influence at executive level. Whether your background is in major events, government, infrastructure or a sophisticated commercial environment, what matters most is your ability to combine insight, judgement and delivery. A CA or CPA qualification is essential, along with a proven track record in senior finance leadership roles.
