Defined Benefits Specialist

Insurance & Superannuation

About the Company
Davidson is partnering with a leading profit-for-members superannuation organisation supporting over a million members, with a clear purpose: helping members get more from their super so they can get more from their future.

This is an initial 12 month fixed term contract

About the Role
This Defined Benefits Specialist role is all about owning end-to-end administration for Defined Benefit (DB) products, with additional exposure to Investment Fund and Lifetime Pension products. The focus is firmly on DB technical depth being the go-to for complex queries, exceptions, and accurate processing in a high-trust environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • End-to-end DB administration: onboarding, transaction processing (in/out), account servicing, exception handling, and query resolution
  • Acting as a point of escalation for complex DB matters across member engagement and adviser support teams
  • Providing technical leadership by interpreting and explaining DB-related rules, platform functionality, reporting capability and product/business rules
  • Supporting year-end processes and ensuring outcomes align to agreed SLAs, with strong attention to detail
  • Delivering QA through peer reviews of complex processing and exception transactions within delegated authority
  • Contributing to regulatory/actuarial reporting and data quality validation (including SuperStream employer data exceptions)
  • Ensuring compliance with superannuation and tax legislation and internal policies; raising incidents/breaches via GRC where required
  • Supporting continuous improvement and helping embed standardised practices to lift efficiency and reduce processing issues

About You
They’re looking for a DB specialist who’s calm under pressure, sharp on detail, and genuinely member-first (because with defined benefits, “nearly right” is still wrong).

Ideal experience includes:

Extensive experience with Defined Benefit and retirement products

  • Strong working knowledge of superannuation and retirement rules/regulations, and confidence applying legislative requirements (ATO, Centrelink, ASIC, APRA)
  • Comfortable working with SuperStream and employer data validation/exceptions
  • Proven stakeholder skills—able to build trust with members, advisers, and internal teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication, especially explaining complex super concepts clearly
  • A continuous learning mindset and the ability to navigate change without dropping quality

The Benefits

High-impact specialist role with direct influence on member experience for retirement / transition-to-retirement members

  • Be the DB “go-to” across complex escalations, reporting, QA, and process excellence
  • Strong values-led culture with a real member-first lens
  • Ongoing accreditation/training support aligned to providing general advice and implementing advice strategies for specialist products
  • This role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne - multiple positons available
