The Opportunity
This is a hands-on Database Administrator contract supporting critical production and non-production environments across a complex enterprise landscape. You will work across on-premises and cloud-based platforms, with a strong focus on Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL administration, operational support, performance, security, and continuous improvement. The role suits someone who is comfortable working in a high-availability environment, can manage incidents and change effectively, and brings deep experience across enterprise database tooling, automation, backup, disaster recovery, and stakeholder support. The brief specifically calls for experience across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Exadata services, AWS RDS PostgreSQL, scripting, third-level support, and operational ownership, with on-call availability also required.
About the Role
You will take ownership of day-to-day database administration and operational support across a broad enterprise environment. Responsibilities will include:
- Install, configure, patch, upgrade, monitor, and manage enterprise database platforms
- Support Oracle environments including OCI Exadata, Data Guard, RAC, and TDE
- Administer SQL Server and AWS RDS PostgreSQL environments
- Investigate incidents, including performance, stability, and security issues
- Deliver backups, restores, refreshes, extracts, reorgs, and release/change activities
- Provide third-level support, technical advice, and input into HA, DR, and monitoring improvements
About You
You are a senior DBA who can operate independently, solve complex issues, and add value across both BAU and project work. To be successful, you will bring:
- Strong Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL administration experience
- Expertise with enterprise database tools including Cloud Control, TOAD, SQL Developer, SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS
- Experience with automation and scripting across Linux and Windows, including PL/SQL and T-SQL
- Strong knowledge of backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery patterns
- Confidence working with vendors, service requests, internal stakeholders, and escalation support
- Broad operational experience across complex enterprise or government-style environments
- Brisbane based, willing to attend Carseldine office (the client has advised interstate candidates will not be considered for this opportunity).
