Our energy sector client has a requirement for a Data Literacy Specialist to join their team on an initial 6 + 6 month contract to drive the journey toward improved data capability and enterprise-wide data maturity.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about data and experienced in engaging with teams to uplift their data awareness, confidence, and practical application. The role will focus on identifying capability gaps, connecting individuals and teams with the right tools and resources, and helping embed data-informed ways of working across the business.
You will be central in finalising and embedding a Data Literacy Framework that underpins how data is understood and used across the organisation. Working closely with managers and functional teams, you will help assess current data capability, recommend uplift pathways, and promote the adoption of practical, user-friendly learning materials already in place.
The role offers hybrid working arrangement with 2 days per week work from home.
Key responsibilities
- Assess data capability across teams and identify opportunities to improve understanding and application of data
- Finalise and embed the organisation’s Data Literacy Framework, aligning with business goals and maturity targets
- Engage with managers and individuals to highlight data literacy needs and recommend suitable training pathways and resources
- Guide users toward relevant self-directed training materials covering areas such as Power BI, interpreting data, storytelling, analytics techniques, data quality, and insights
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand pain points and support efforts to improve how data is accessed, interpreted, and used
- Support the development of action plans and capability uplift strategies tailored to specific business needs
- Promote a culture of data-informed decision-making and foster peer learning through knowledge sharing and communities of practice
- Track key outcomes and feedback to refine and improve the approach over time
About you
- A genuine passion for data and a desire to help others become more confident in using it
- Experience in data, analytics, enablement, or business improvement roles involving stakeholder engagement and capability development
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to translate technical data concepts into plain language
- Experience identifying learning needs and guiding others to appropriate training and development options
- Solid knowledge of data concepts including reporting, analysis, and data quality improvement
- Familiarity with tools such as Power BI and Microsoft Office Suite
- Understanding of adult learning principles and organisational change is an advantage
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g., Data, Business, Information Systems, Learning and Development)
