Davidson Technology are working with a State Government Department to secure an experienced Data Engineer, to focus on ensuring robust and effective data solutions for operational needs while collaborating with a large-scale ICT modernisation and transformation program.


About the Role

As the Data Engineer, you will be as key contributor to both operational excellence and strategic transformation within an ICT Digital Solutions team. You’ll be involved in designing and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performing data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric and technologies like PySpark and delta format in hybrid cloud environments. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring data availability for analytics, implementing best practices in data modelling, and contributing to architectural decisions. You will facilitate the seamless transition of project-based data solutions into Business-as-Usual operations, ensuring long-term stability and performance. Collaboration is central to your success, involving close work with the Data and Analytics team and broader ICT and business units to align solutions with reporting needs and governance standards. Additionally, you’ll mentor peers, uphold DevOps and CI/CD practices, manage data quality, and support advanced analytics by preparing large datasets for machine learning, ultimately enabling smarter decision-making across the organisation.


About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring a robust background in designing and managing scalable data solutions within hybrid cloud environments, particularly leveraging Azure Synapse, data lakes, and SQL-based tools such as SSIS and SSRS. You’ll be adept at developing efficient data pipelines and applying advanced transformation techniques, playing a vital role in preparing high-quality, optimised data sets for analytics, reporting, and machine learning. Your proactive problem-solving mindset will drive improvements in data quality and system performance, while your collaborative approach ensures seamless transitions from project to operational phases. With a strong focus on operational reliability and adaptability to evolving needs, you’ll exemplify leadership through individual contribution and continuous growth. Certifications such as Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate further validate their technical acumen, enhancing their ability to contribute meaningfully within dynamic, multidisciplinary teams.


The Benefits

You will be offered a contract until 30 ^th June 2026 (possible extension) on an excellent hourly rate and the ability to negotiate a flexible working arrangement for the duration of the assignment.
