The Opportunity

An opportunity is available for an experienced Data Analyst to join a Queensland Government organisation, helping shape a more data-driven, risk-based regulatory environment. You'll work with complex operational, compliance, and regulatory datasets to deliver meaningful insights that influence strategic decision-making, improve regulatory outcomes, and identify emerging risks. This is a Brisbane-based contract role offering the opportunity to work with modern analytics technologies, including Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, SQL, and predictive analytics, while partnering with senior stakeholders across the organisation.


About the Role

In this role, you will use data to support strategic and operational decision-making across a complex regulatory environment by:

  • Analysing regulatory, compliance, incident, audit, and operational data to identify trends and emerging risks.
  • Developing dashboards, executive reports, and business intelligence solutions using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Building data models, analytical frameworks, and performance metrics to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Using SQL, Excel, and data visualisation tools to transform complex datasets into actionable insights.
  • Supporting risk-based regulatory models through predictive analytics, reporting, and performance measurement.
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose analytical solutions and strategic reporting.


About You

To be successful, you'll bring strong technical capability alongside excellent stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst, BI Analyst, or similar analytics-focused role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, SQL, Excel, and data modelling.
  • Experience developing dashboards, reports, KPIs, and data visualisations for senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with Python, R, machine learning, predictive analytics, or a regulatory/public sector environment will be highly regarded
