Cyber Security Operations Specialist
Location: Brisbane, QLD | Full-Time | Defence Industry | Onsite
Are you ready to take ownership of cyber operations in a high-trust, high-security environment? A leading defence company is seeking a Cyber Security Operations Specialist to play a key role in protecting critical infrastructure and information systems across Australia and New Zealand.
Reporting directly to the Group Cyber Manager, you’ll lead operational cyber activities, including threat detection, vulnerability management, incident response, and awareness programs. This is a hands-on role with strategic visibility in a nationally significant organisation where security is a top priority.
What You’ll Be Doing

Managing and coordinating security incident response, analysis, and recovery

Leading vulnerability management and system hardening activities

Running simulation exercises and staff security awareness training

Monitoring security events, threat intelligence, and protective controls

Supporting the development and refinement of cyber response plans

Working closely with IT and business teams to ensure secure operations
What We’re Looking For

5+ years’ experience in a cyber security operations, analyst, or engineering role
-
Proven experience in threat detection, incident response, and cyber monitoring

Familiarity with security tools like SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability scanners
-
Solid understanding of cyber frameworks (e.g. NIST, ISO 27001)

Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical risk

High attention to detail, professionalism, and discretion
🎓 Preferred Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in Cyber Security, IT, or a related field

Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or similar are desirable
