Davidson is partnering with a leading Queensland-based infrastructure organisation to find an experienced Cultural Heritage Specialist to join their high-impact project team.
This is your opportunity to play a critical role in delivering major infrastructure projects while working closely with Traditional Owner groups to ensure meaningful, compliant, and culturally respectful outcomes.
About the Role
As Cultural Heritage Specialist, you’ll provide expert advice and practical support across large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003 and alignment with the organisation’s First Nations Commitment Statement. You'll work with internal teams, alliance partners, and Traditional Owner groups to build genuine relationships and deliver positive social and cultural heritage outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise project and alliance leadership teams on cultural heritage obligations and risk management.
- Lead engagement with Traditional Owners to develop and implement Cultural Heritage Management Plans and agreements.
- Coordinate cultural heritage inspections and facilitate inclusive on-country training and capability-building programs.
- Manage procurement processes involving Traditional Owner organisations and track cultural heritage budgets.
- Deliver training to build internal capability for engaging respectfully and effectively with First Nations People.
- Ensure clear, culturally appropriate communication and support long-term relationship-building across the organisation’s projects.
About You
You are an experienced Cultural Heritage professional who understands the nuances of working in complex project environments. You bring sound knowledge of the regulatory frameworks around Native Title and cultural heritage, and have a passion for fostering respectful, long-term relationships with First Nations communities.
You will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g., anthropology, archaeology, Indigenous studies, environmental management).
- 5+ years' experience in cultural heritage, with a strong understanding of Native Title and cultural heritage legislation in Queensland.
- Experience supporting infrastructure projects with cultural heritage agreements and field assessments.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to work closely with Traditional Owner groups.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear documentation and present advice to senior stakeholders.
