JOB TITLE: Configuration Analyst
JOB LOCATION: Sydney, NSW (Hybrid)
JOB DURATION: 9 months contract (potential extension)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Configuration Analyst to support and enhance Configuration Management Database (CMDB) capabilities within a critical technology environment.
This role will focus on improving CMDB data quality, governance, and remediation, ensuring the CMDB remains a trusted source of truth for technology assets and services. Working closely with technology teams, service owners, asset managers, and IT Operations Management (ITOM) specialists, you will help maintain accurate, complete, and reliable Configuration Item (CI) data within ServiceNow.
This is a hands-on opportunity for a professional with strong Configuration Management expertise, stakeholder engagement skills, and a commitment to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, analyse, and remediate CMDB data accuracy, completeness, and quality issues.
- Establish and maintain Configuration Item (CI) ownership, governance frameworks, and accountability across technology teams.
- Define, monitor, and report on CMDB health metrics, KPIs, and performance indicators.
- Develop dashboards and reports to provide visibility into CMDB health, compliance, and asset management effectiveness.
- Implement certification and attestation processes to support ongoing CMDB governance and data integrity.
- Educate stakeholders on Configuration Management best practices, RACI responsibilities, and the importance of maintaining accurate CMDB data.
- Collaborate with ITOM teams to investigate Discovery-related issues and improve CMDB data quality.
- Support asset lifecycle management by reinforcing commissioning and decommissioning processes.
- Ensure compliance with Configuration Management policies, standards, and governance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and operational outcomes.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB and Configuration Management processes.
- Strong understanding of ITIL frameworks and Configuration Management principles.
- Proven experience in CMDB governance, data quality management, and remediation activities.
- Experience implementing and maintaining governance and compliance controls.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
- Experience developing and maintaining reports, dashboards, KPIs, and performance metrics.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement capabilities.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience with ServiceNow ITOM, including Discovery and related capabilities.
- Knowledge of asset lifecycle management and Service Asset & Configuration Management (SACM).
- Experience supporting large-scale CMDB transformation or uplift programs.
- Exposure to governance, risk, and compliance frameworks in enterprise environments.
- Experience in financial services, payment systems, or other regulated industries.
