Davidson Executive & Talent is recruiting multiple Compliance & Regulation Officers at APS5 and APS6 equivalent levels for an expanding regulatory function in Canberra.
These are experienced-level roles requiring strong analytical capability, sound judgement and confidence working with detailed financial, regulatory or legislative information.
Appointment at APS5 or APS6 level will depend on your experience, capability and the complexity of work you have previously managed.
The opportunity
You will contribute to important regulatory and financial compliance activities within a complex legislative environment.
Your work will involve reviewing financial information, undertaking compliance assessments and identifying risks or potential non-compliance. You will help ensure decisions and financial processes are accurate, defensible and supported by evidence.
Depending on your experience and level, you will:
- Review financial disclosures, claims and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness and compliance
- Undertake structured compliance reviews and assessments
- Analyse financial and other information to identify discrepancies, risks and potential non-compliance
- Interpret legislation, policy and procedures and apply them to individual matters
- Gather and analyse information from multiple sources
- Prepare clear written advice, correspondence, reports and briefs
- Engage with internal stakeholders and external participants
- Support the accurate administration and processing of funding
- Manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- At APS6 level, independently manage more complex assessments, exercise sound judgement and provide guidance to junior team members
The underlying AEC position descriptions identify financial audit and assurance experience, and qualifications or experience in accounting, commerce, finance or related disciplines, as highly desirable for the compliance stream.
Who we're looking for
These are not entry-level opportunities. We are looking for experienced professionals who can bring established capability in one or more of the following areas:
- Regulatory or legislative compliance
- Financial compliance
- Audit and assurance
- Accounting or finance
- Risk and controls
- Government regulatory programs
- Financial assessments or reviews
- Grants, funding or payment assurance
- Complex case assessment or administrative decision-making
You will be analytical and methodical, with the judgement to work through detailed financial or regulatory matters. Strong written communication and stakeholder engagement skills are important, as is the ability to reach well-reasoned conclusions based on evidence.
For APS6 opportunities, we are particularly interested in candidates who have independently managed complex work, exercised judgement in a regulatory or assurance environment, and supported or guided less experienced team members.

Essential requirements
To be considered, you must:
- Be an Australian citizen
- Be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance
- Be willing to undertake a National Police Check and required pre-employment screening
- Meet strict political neutrality and conflict-of-interest requirements
