The Gordon is proud to be a leading provider of vocational education and training in the Barwon and Wyndham regions. With campuses in Geelong City, East Geelong and Werribee, The Gordon supports more than 11,000 students each year through on-campus, online and industry-based learning. Aligned with the TAFE Network, The Gordon plays a central role in delivering on government objectives, which include transitioning to a clean economy, addressing critical skills gaps, and fostering an inclusive workforce. By supporting lifelong learning, The Gordon is a leader in equipping students with future-ready skills and meeting the evolving needs of its region and the Victorian economy.
Offering over 110 nationally accredited qualifications alongside a wide range of short courses, The Gordon plays a vital role in preparing students for careers across priority sectors such as health, clean energy, manufacturing and construction. In 2024 alone, The Gordon supported more than 3,800 students and trainees—helping to power the regional workforce and keep local industries agile.
The Gordon is governed by a Board comprising ten Directors who provide strong governance and strategic and financial oversight. As with all TAFE Boards, it is accountable to the Minister for Skills and TAFE for both educational and financial performance.
With one Director approaching the conclusion of their term, the Board is now seeking to appoint a co-opted Board Director. The ideal candidate will bring experience in the vocational education sector and ideally reside in the Barwon or Wyndham regions. This is a three-year appointment offering a competitive base salary, superannuation (where eligible), and additional remuneration for participation in Board Committee work.
The successful Co-opted Board Director will have demonstrated experience in the following areas:
- Finance; and/or
- Law
As an experienced Board Director, you will bring a strong understanding of governance and the ability to contribute strategically to Board deliberations. Prior experience serving on public sector Boards and engaging with Ministers, Ministerial offices, and Government stakeholders is highly regarded.
