Technical Operations Manager – Cloud Infrastructure (AWS)

An established software services organisation is seeking a Technical Operations Manager to lead a cloud-first infrastructure team supporting a business-critical SaaS platform.
This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing a team of 6 engineers responsible for the operational stability, performance and evolution of a predominantly AWS-based environment. The platform supports a national ERP solution used by commercial customers, requiring strong uptime governance and structured operational oversight.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of cloud and infrastructure engineers
- Oversee AWS infrastructure operations including availability, resilience and performance
- Act as escalation point for major incidents (24/7 roster managed by team)
- Provide infrastructure input into projects and architectural decisions
- Manage cloud cost visibility and support future capacity planning
- Drive structured ITIL-based incident, change and problem management
- Contribute to gradual DevOps and automation uplift initiatives
Required experience:
- Strong AWS infrastructure background (production environments)
- Experience leading technical teams in cloud operations
- Solid understanding of high-availability SaaS environments
- ITIL-aligned operational governance experience
- Ability to balance hands-on technical credibility with people leadership
Desirable:
- Exposure to ERP or product-based platforms
- Experience in medium to large environments
- Awareness of Infrastructure-as-Code or DevOps tooling
Based in Sydney Olympic Park, the role requires 5 days onsite for the first 6 months, moving to a 3-day hybrid model thereafter.
