Lead enterprise-wide transformation at ANROWS, partnering with the CEO to strengthen culture, systems, governance and organisational effectiveness.
About ANROWS
ANROWS is Australia's independent source for evidence on domestic, family, sexual and gender-based violence.
The organisation is entering an important phase of development as it embeds its strategic priorities and strengthens the organisational foundations required to deliver them effectively. This includes improving organisational clarity, integration, accountability and sustainable performance.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Transformation Officer will partner with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to lead ANROWS’ enterprise-wide transformation agenda, translating strategic priorities into practical organisational planning, governance, systems, decision-making and delivery. This is an organisation-wide role, focused on creating clarity across the organisation while ensuring leadership retains accountability for their specialist portfolios.
ANROWS’ specialist directorates include Research and Insights, Knowledge Exchange and Engagement, Strategic Communications, Finance and Operations and People and Culture, with responsibilities spanning research and evaluation, evidence mobilisation and stakeholder engagement, communications and reputation, financial and operational management, and organisational capability. The CTO will connect these functions through clearer responsibilities, decision-making authority, shared accountability and effective ways of working, without duplicating the responsibilities of the respective directors.
Your impact
Working closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, you will translate ANROWS' strategic priorities into clear organisational plans, delivery rhythms and measures of success. You will strengthen enterprise-wide planning, governance, reporting, systems and decision-making, while clarifying responsibilities and accountabilities across the organisation.
You will support the Leadership Team to operate with greater collaboration, enterprise-wide thinking and shared accountability. You will also help strengthen trust, confidence, reflection, feedback and sustainable ways of working across ANROWS, working closely with People and Culture and the broader leadership team with a key focus on establishing the cross-functional arrangements that allow ANROWS' specialist directorates to work together effectively.
What does success look like?
Success will be measured by your ability to turn ANROWS' strategic priorities into practical organisational planning, systems, governance and delivery practices. You will create greater clarity around how priorities are set, decisions are made, responsibilities are held and progress is measured.
Within 12 to 24 months, you will have strengthened enterprise-wide leadership, built greater trust and confidence across the organisation and established more integrated ways of working across ANROWS' specialist functions. Directors will retain accountability for their areas while working within clearer interfaces, shared priorities and decision-making arrangements.
By the end of the appointment, ANROWS will have stronger organisational capability, more effective systems and routines, improved collaboration and clearer accountability, with the changes sufficiently embedded to continue beyond the tenure of the role.
About you
You are an experienced enterprise leader who has delivered complex organisational transformation beyond strategy development and into practical implementation. You will bring experience strengthening leadership capability, culture, collaboration, accountability, organisational planning, governance, systems and ways of working. Your background may include enterprise transformation, organisational development, strategy and operations, corporate services, Chief Operating Officer, Chief of Staff or broad executive leadership. Experience in a purpose-driven, stakeholder-rich or independent organisation will be highly relevant.
Direct experience in domestic, family, sexual or gender-based violence, research or government is valuable but not essential. What matters most is your ability to connect strategy, people, culture, systems, governance and delivery while respecting the expertise and accountability of specialist leaders.
