The Council is seeking an inspiring and forward-thinking Chief People Officer to lead the People and Safety function and play a pivotal role in shaping the employee experience of today and tomorrow.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief People Officer (CPO) will lead and develop a high-performing People and Safety business unit encompassing People Services, Industrial Relations & Business Advisory, Safety & Wellbeing, and People Systems & Data. This role will drive contemporary people and safety strategies that enhance the employee experience, strengthen workplace culture, and align with Council’s Team Melton transformation agenda.
Partnering with leaders across Council, the CPO will champion operational excellence, embed best-practice frameworks, and deliver technological and process innovations that transform how the organisation works. They will provide trusted, data-driven advice on workforce planning, organisational design, employee wellbeing, and workplace relations in a complex environment.
To be successful in this role, you will be a strategic, people-focused senior leader who thrives on leading change and influencing across large, complex organisations. You will bring extensive experience in leading people, culture, and safety functions within diverse workforces.
With proven expertise in industrial relations and demonstrated success working effectively with unions you will have a strong track record of delivering organisational transformation and continuous improvement. Your well-developed problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills, together with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels, will be central to a leadership style that is collaborative, values-driven, and results-focused.
Tertiary qualifications are essential, with postgraduate study highly regarded.
