Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a nationally significant, not-for-profit cultural institution that brings Australia’s gold rush heritage to life through its Outdoor Museum, AURA sound and light experience, Sovereign Hill Hotel, Narmbool and the two new Centres – Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections and the Australian Centre for Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades. Welcoming around 500,000 visitors annually, and supported by over 350 employees and 250 volunteers, the organisation is committed to connecting people through history to adapt for a better future. As it continues to evolve, Sovereign Hill is seeking a values-driven and strategic Chief People Officer to join the Executive team and shape the people and culture agenda at a pivotal time in its journey.
As a member of the Executive team, reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief People Officer leads a broad portfolio including Human Resources, Workplace Relations, Occupational Health and Safety and Organisational Development. This role will deliver the People and Culture Strategic Plan, oversee HR systems and compliance, lead enterprise bargaining and guide the development of a diverse, inclusive and high-performing workforce. It will provide strategic advice to the Board and Executive on organisational culture, lead change and capability initiatives, and ensure robust frameworks are in place to support leadership development, succession, engagement and wellbeing across the organisation and contribute to strategic direction setting for the business as a whole.
To be successful, you will be an accomplished senior HR leader with extensive experience advising at senior levels within complex, values-based environments. You bring deep expertise in industrial relations, employment law, organisational design, workforce planning and cultural transformation, along with a collaborative leadership style and sound judgement. A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Law or Business is required, and postgraduate qualifications or AHRI membership are highly regarded.
