Our client, Children’s Health Queensland (CHQ), is a specialist statewide hospital and health service providing world-class care to children and young people across Queensland and northern New South Wales.
Through the Queensland Children’s Hospital, community and mental health services, outreach programs and partnerships, CHQ delivers safe, high-quality, person-centred care while driving innovation in paediatric research, education, and health promotion. Reporting to the Health Service Chief Executive, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) will play a pivotal role in leading and managing all clinical and support services across CHQ. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the COO will:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across hospital, community and statewide services.
- Ensure safe, high-quality, integrated care and continuous performance improvement.
- Drive accountability across patient safety, access, equity, workforce culture, budget performance and clinical governance.
- Partner with government, clinicians and community stakeholders to shape future models of paediatric care.
The successful candidate will bring:
- Executive leadership experience within complex healthcare or service delivery organisations.
- Advanced expertise in operational, workforce and financial management.
- Strong knowledge of clinical governance, safety and quality frameworks.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A values-driven approach with a commitment to equity, innovation and high-performance cultures.
- Relevant clinical, professional or management qualifications (highly desirable).
