Chief Operating Officer

Banking & Financial Services

  • Strategic partner to the CEO in a private investment business with a diversified global portfolio
  • Lead operations, governance, and cross-border complexity
  • Shape long-term impact in a discreet, values-led family office

Our client, a successful single-family office investment business, based in Brisbane’s inner north, with a purposefully low profile and a reputation for long-term, values-driven wealth stewardship, is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join their team. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the broader stakeholder group, this is a rare opportunity to shape the strategic and operational core of a global investment portfolio and to help advance the philanthropic objectives.

About the Role

The COO will be responsible for the operational, financial, and fiduciary functions of the family office and its affiliated charitable foundation. As a hands-on partner to the CEO, you’ll bring structure and rigour to complex global investments, cross-jurisdictional compliance, and evolving technology systems - all in service of the family’s multigenerational vision.

This is a high-trust, high-impact role for a commercially minded operator who thrives on detail, discretion, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Drive day-to-day operational excellence across finance, compliance, service provider management, and reporting.
  • Lead the implementation of AI-enabled systems to increase efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
  • Act as a thought partner to the CEO, with an eye on sustainable growth, risk mitigation, and long-term value creation.

Investment Oversight & Governance

  • Serve as a key liaison between the investment committee and external advisers.
  • Oversee portfolio reporting, cash flow planning, capital calls, and policy implementation.
  • Ensure fiduciary, legal, and tax compliance across a sophisticated structure of trusts, companies, and offshore entities.

Foundation & Philanthropy

  • Support the ongoing operations and governance of an active charitable foundation.

About You

We’re looking for a senior professional with 10–20 years’ commercial experience and the ability to adapt to new and challenging situations. Key to your success will be:

  • Proven operational and financial acumen – ideally with global exposure.
  • A collaborative leadership style grounded in integrity, humility, and sound judgement.
  • A pragmatic, hands-on mindset - comfortable shifting from strategy to execution.
  • Strong understanding of investment principles and surrounding governance
  • Discretion, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work in service of the family’s values and ambitions.
  • Enjoy working as a key person in a small team.
  • Deep respect for privacy, ethics, and long-term relationship building.

Why Join?

  • Join a lean, high-performing team with a 20+ year vision.
  • Help steward and grow a meaningful portfolio across multiple jurisdictions and asset classes.
  • Contribute to a purpose-led charitable foundation committed to quiet, impactful philanthropy.
  • Be part of a culture that values curiosity, efficiency and continuous improvement
  • Enjoy a relaxed but professional environment where performance and trust go hand in hand.
  • A competitive salary is offered, with the potential to include an incentive scheme as part of the overall package.
