Reporting to the Director Customer and Transformation, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for providing strategic leadership of the Information and Communications Technology function and drive the City’s digital transformation agenda. The CIO will lead the technology vision and strategy, modernising legacy systems into secure, integrated, cloud-based solutions that enable high-quality, customer-focused services. The role partners closely with the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams to ensure technology investments align with organisational priorities, support the Transforming Boroondara Program, and deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, data security, service delivery and community outcomes. The CIO will lead multi-disciplinary teams across data and digital platforms, core technology systems, IT services and cybersecurity, embedding strong governance, continuous improvement and a culture of innovation across Council.
To be successful, you will be a proven senior technology leader with a strong track record of leading large, multi-disciplinary teams through complex organisational and digital change, ideally within a complex or politically sensitive environment. You will bring deep expertise in digital transformation, customer experience, cloud and enterprise platforms, cybersecurity, and technology governance, alongside strong commercial and financial acumen. Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills are essential, with the ability to collaborate, influence and provide trusted advice to executive leaders, councillors and external partners. You will be adaptable, resilient and strategically minded, with the ability to translate vision into operational outcomes. Relevant tertiary qualifications in information technology, business or a related discipline are required, along with the capacity to meet all pre-employment checks.
