Reporting to the Director Corporate Services, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the strategic direction and delivery of financial, rating, and procurement services across the organisation. This is a rare opportunity to lead a high-performing department of approximately 35 staff across three distinct business units: Finance, Property and Rating Services, and Strategic Procurement. With four direct reports, the CFO will play a critical role in shaping financial integrity and performance, providing expert advice to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, managers and Councillors, and contributing to strategic discussions at Audit and Risk Management Committee meetings. We are seeking a collaborative and forward-thinking leader who can clearly communicate complex financial matters, deliver high-quality and timely reporting, influence internal and external stakeholders, and foster innovation to enhance service delivery and customer experience. The role also contributes to business continuity and emergency management efforts, helping to ensure the organisation is well-prepared in times of crisis.
To be considered for this critical leadership role, you will be a CA or CPA qualified professional with current membership in the relevant body, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality financial, rating, and procurement services within a complex organisational setting, ideally within Local Government. You will be a strategic and empowering people leader, with demonstrated success in coaching and developing high-performing teams and delegating with clarity and accountability. Known for your business acumen, you will bring a deep understanding of financial operations and a strong ability to evaluate complex business proposals and strategies to drive sustainable growth and value. You will be politically astute and customer-focused, with the ability to cultivate networks and influence a broad range of stakeholders both within and outside the organisation. Your strengths in establishing strategic direction, navigating organisational change, and vividly communicating a compelling vision will be key to shaping a high-integrity, innovative financial function. A passion for results and continuous improvement, combined with a deep commitment to service excellence, will ensure you thrive in this dynamic and purpose-driven environment.
