- Shape Council’s long-term financial sustainability
- Lead a high-performing, well-established finance function
- Make a meaningful community impact at one of Melbourne’s most desirable bayside locations
Bayside City Council is a progressive and community-focused organisation located along Melbourne’s highly sought-after coastline, known for its beautiful foreshore, vibrant local villages and exceptional quality of life. Serving a diverse and engaged community, Bayside City Council delivers a broad range of high-quality services that support both residents and businesses. The Council offers a collaborative, values-driven workplace where people are empowered to contribute, innovate and make a meaningful impact, all within a well-connected and desirable part of Melbourne.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a high-impact senior leadership role and help shape the future of Bayside City Council. Reporting to the Director Corporate Services, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be a trusted advisor, providing expert financial and strategic guidance to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and a highly engaged Council. Bayside is in an enviable financial position, with strong reserves and a disciplined financial foundation. You will lead a mature, high-performing function spanning Finance, Rating and Valuation, Fleet Services and the Enterprise PMO, ensuring the delivery of aligned, efficient services and a strong portfolio management approach. The role also presents an opportunity to strengthen integration between finance and asset management, supporting improved long-term planning and investment decisions.
To be successful, you will be an experienced senior finance leader with strong commercial and strategic acumen, ideally with Local Government experience or exposure to complex, community-focused or regulated environments such as aged care. You bring a proven track record of driving organisational performance, leading change and building high-performing teams, along with the ability to operate as a trusted advisor to executives and elected representatives. CA/CPA qualified, you combine technical expertise with credibility, sound judgement and the interpersonal skills to build trusted relationships, challenge constructively, and contribute to a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
This is an opportunity to build on a strong financial foundation, lead a high-performing team, and make a meaningful impact on community outcomes within a values-driven organisation. If you are motivated by purpose, leadership and the opportunity to make a lasting impact, this role offers both challenge and reward.
