- Shape financial strategy and growth for the Port
- Contribute to future economic expansion and development
- Be part of a high-impact executive leadership team
The Port of Hastings in Victoria is a strategically important and state significant asset boasting distinctive competitive advantages that position it for future economic expansion and development. The Port offers significant benefits such as expansive zoned land proximity to existing port facilities, naturally deep waters and closeness to offshore wind projects off the Gippsland coast, with a proposed project for the largest offshore wind project in Australia currently under consideration.
The proposed Victorian Renewable Energy Terminal at the Port of Hastings marks a key phase of investment and transformation for the Port, significantly reshaping its operations. Following recent Federal Government EPBC approval as a controlled action, the project is now progressing through the EES approval stage. This transformation calls for a dynamic finance executive to lead the strategic and operational aspects of corporate services, drive new revenue streams, and support the delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects.
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be a key executive in shaping the financial strategy and governance of POHC. As the key financial strategist, you will provide proactive advice, oversee all corporate service areas—including finance, procurement, human resources, IT, and policies—and align financial strategies with the port’s objectives. The CFO will be instrumental in driving financial initiatives that support the port’s growth and operational efficiency, ensuring that all financial practices contribute to the long-term success of POHC whilst ensuring compliance with government regulations and policies. The role entails optimising financial performance, aligning investment strategies, and making informed financial decisions to enhance economic value.
You will lead a diverse and engaged team, fostering a collaborative workplace, and will define clarity of role and accountability to ensure the effective delivery of all programs of work. Importantly, you will work collaboratively with your executive peers to ensure that all structures and functions of the Finance team are fit-for-purpose, efficient and support the organisation in achieving its strategic objectives. Critical to your success in this role will be your ability to effectively engage and build relationships with customers, Departments and other government agencies and project partners, to ensure the Port is well positioned to deliver on significant infrastructure and asset renewal programs.
To be considered for this role, you will be a highly regarded leader with experience leading a complex finance portfolio. Using commercial disciplines within a government owned and regulated context, you will help drive value, through a range of strategic initiatives, including relevant growth opportunities and partnerships that deliver improved productivity and better outcomes for all parties. With a strong background in strategic financial management and CPA/CA qualifications, you bring creative problem-solving skills necessary to navigate complex financial challenges. You will be highly regarded for your inclusive leadership and ability to work in collaboration with the senior leadership team to achieve a whole of organisation vision.
