Metro Tasmania plays a vital role in the everyday lives of Tasmanians, connecting communities across Hobart, Launceston and Burnie through essential public bus services. As Tasmania’s largest owned passenger transport provider, Metro is now entering a period of strategic transformation - focused on service reliability, financial sustainability and long-term regional impact.
Working closely with a highly engaged Board, shareholders and government stakeholders, the CEO will lead the integration of new technology platforms, champion a high-performance and safety-focused culture, and deliver the next phase of Metro’s organisational and cultural reform. Key priorities include improving service reliability, driving operational efficiency, realising the benefits of new technology platforms, and pursuing measures that will ensure long-term financial sustainability beyond 2029.
The Board is seeking an experienced and future-focused Chief Executive Officer to lead this next chapter. The CEO will play a central role in modernising operations, lifting customer outcomes, building trust with key stakeholders and strengthening workforce capability in a complex and highly accountable public environment. Key to your success will be your ability to advocate and influence key stakeholders to achieve future impact across public transport sector outcomes for Tasmania.
A stakeholder-savvy executive who can work effectively with a Board and tight-knit senior team, you bring a strong track record of hands-on leadership in complex service delivery organisations—ideally in transport, infrastructure or essential services. You will bring demonstrated operational leadership, effective at influencing to drive outcomes and resilient in leading through change. You are known for your ability to build collaborative, values-aligned cultures and to lead through complexity with integrity, transparency and purpose. Your passion for public value, operational excellence and community outcomes will be critical to your success in this high-profile role.
