The Opportunity
Reporting to the TAFE Queensland Board, the Chief Executive Officer will lead one of Queensland’s most significant and high-impact public education organisations through its next chapter of transformation. The CEO will shape and deliver strategy that secures financial sustainability while enhancing TAFE Queensland’s reputation for integrity, accessibility, and exceptional service delivery. This is a pivotal leadership position, requiring an outstanding relationship builder who can skillfully navigate the intersection of government, industry, and community partnerships, while carrying the credibility and gravitas to represent TAFE Queensland at the highest levels.
The CEO will drive cultural and structural renewal across the organisation to foster agility, accountability, and high performance. Additionally, the CEO will champion innovation, technology, and digital transformation to improve learning outcomes and organisational efficiency, while ensuring robust governance, fiscal responsibility, and compliance with all regulatory and legislative frameworks. They will also promote a culture of respect, inclusion, collaboration, and integrity, and represent TAFE Queensland on both national and international stages, positioning it as a world-class public training provider.
About You
You are a visionary and strategic leader who thrives in complex, multi-stakeholder environments and are recognised for integrity, sound judgment, and decisive leadership. With significant executive experience - ideally within education, government, or other complex service delivery sectors - you bring a proven track record of leading large-scale organisational change and transformation. You possess the capability to rationalise structures and processes while maintaining a strong focus on people, partnerships, and tangible outcomes.
Your understanding of the vocational education and training landscape, including its policy and funding frameworks, is complemented by political and commercial acumen that enables you to engage effectively with Ministers, agencies, and industry leaders. You demonstrate a commitment to innovation, digital enablement, and the application of emerging technologies, including AI, to advance education. Above all, your people-first leadership approach fosters collaboration, trust, and respect across every level of the organisation.
