Chief Executive Officer

CEO & General Management

  • Lead one of Queensland's most influential education funding organisations
  • Shape the future of learning through strategic capital investment
  • Drive sector-wide impact across education, infrastructure and governance

About the Organisation

The Queensland Independent Schools Block Grant Authority (QIS BGA) plays a critical role in supporting Queensland's independent school sector through the strategic allocation and management of Commonwealth and State Government capital funding.

Each year, QIS BGA partners with schools to invest tens of millions of dollars into educational facilities that enable better learning outcomes for students across Queensland. More than a funding body, QISBGA is a trusted strategic advisor, working alongside schools to strengthen planning, improve capability and ensure public investment delivers lasting value.

An outstanding opportunity now exists for an accomplished executive to lead the organisation into its next chapter as Chief Executive Officer.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Board, the CEO will provide strategic and operational leadership across the organisation while continuing to strengthen QIS BGA’s reputation as a trusted partner to schools, government and the broader education sector.

This is a highly visible leadership role that combines strategy, governance, stakeholder engagement and organisational leadership. You will guide a high-performing Secretariat, work closely with the Board and represent QIS BGA across government, education and industry forums.

You will play a key role in:

  • Leading the effective delivery of significant capital grant programs
  • Building trusted relationships across schools, government and key stakeholders
  • Providing strategic oversight of financial management, governance and risk
  • Supporting the planning, design and delivery of educational infrastructure projects
  • Continuing to strengthen organisational capability, systems and sector leadership
  • Leading a collaborative and high-performing team committed to service excellence

This is a rare opportunity to influence educational outcomes across Queensland through thoughtful leadership, sound governance and strategic investment.

About You

You are an authentic and strategic executive who enjoys working across complex stakeholder environments and leading organisations with purpose.

You bring sound commercial judgement together with exceptional relationship-building skills and understand how effective governance, financial stewardship and infrastructure investment combine to deliver lasting community outcomes. You will also bring:

  • Senior executive leadership experience within education, government, infrastructure or another complex stakeholder environment
  • Strong financial management capability and commercial acumen
  • Experience leading large programs, capital projects or significant funding initiatives
  • An understanding of governance, public accountability and Board engagement
  • Outstanding communication and relationship management skills
  • A collaborative leadership style that builds capability, trust and high performance
  • Strategic thinking combined with a practical, solutions-focused approach

Experience working with government funding programs, infrastructure investment or the education sector will be highly regarded but is not essential.

Why Join QIS BGA?

This is an opportunity to lead a respected organisation with a clear purpose and a significant impact on education across Queensland. The opportunity offers:

  • A highly influential CEO position reporting directly to the Board
  • The opportunity to shape educational infrastructure across Queensland
  • An experienced and committed Secretariat
  • Modern offices in South Brisbane alongside Independent Schools Queensland
  • An attractive executive remuneration package

If you are a strategic leader who enjoys building partnerships, strengthening organisations and creating lasting impact through education, we welcome your interest.
