The Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) is Victoria’s independent environmental regulator. EPA works to prevent and reduce the harmful effects of pollution and waste on Victorians and their environment, collaborating with community, government, and industry to achieve its objectives. Over the past five years, EPA has undergone significant transformation with the Environment Protection Act 2017 coming into effect on 1 July 2021. As the needs of Victorians evolve, EPA adapts and responds to various factors, embracing new ways of working and celebrating diversity of people and lifestyles. The organisation offers a range of practical support options for both work and personal life, fostering an inclusive culture where employees can make a meaningful impact on protecting Victoria’s environment and public health.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Environmental Scientist is EPA’s most senior science role and a key member of the executive leadership team. This role is central to ensuring EPA achieves its vision of preventing harm to the environment and human health as a modern, science-based regulator. To be successful in this role you will be a highly regarded scientific leader with a doctorate or relevant postgraduate qualifications in environmental science, environmental public health, or a related discipline.
With recognised expertise and credibility in your field, you bring:
