- City of Brisbane Investment Corporation (CBIC)
- Location: Brisbane CBD
- Significantly contribute to a refreshed investment strategy
The City of Brisbane Investment Corporation (CBIC) is Brisbane’s Urban Wealth Fund, established to generate sustainable financial returns for the benefit of Brisbane’s residents and visitors. With a current fund of approximately $400 million and gearing kept deliberately low, CBIC is in the enviable position of having capital to invest in a market where few others do. This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing, tightly connected team that is actively shaping the city’s future through active market participation in strategic property investment.
Over the past 18 months, under the leadership of a new CEO and refreshed investment strategy, CBIC has successfully acquired two high-performing assets and has another under due diligence. With an average asset size of $40 million and a portfolio currently comprising 11 assets, recent acquisitions have combined strong returns with long-term land development upside. The organisation also undertakes co-investments to free up capital, positioning the fund for future growth and diversification.
As Capital Transactions Manager, you will play a pivotal role in buying, selling, divesting and raising capital across the portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Investment Management, you will be responsible for sourcing and evaluating opportunities, managing due diligence and divestment processes, building relationships across the market, and presenting proposals to the Board. With just 11 staff in total, CBIC is a small and dynamic team where collaboration is essential, and everyone contributes to delivering results. This is a role where personality matters – we are seeking someone who is commercially sharp, relationships-driven, and excited by the opportunity to be directly involved in high-profile transactions.
We are open to different backgrounds – you may be an experienced capital transactions or acquisitions professional, a valuer or investment analyst ready to take the next step, or a property advisor with the right mix of financial acumen and relationship confidence. What is essential is the ability to understand the numbers, influence key stakeholders, and be comfortable operating in the market with credibility.
To succeed, you will bring:
- Experience in property, property finance or executing transactions.
- Strong capability in financial modelling (Forbury) and Excel.
- Experience engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including consultants, agents, partners, and Boards.
- Formal qualifications in property, commerce, law or a related discipline.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a passionate property professional to make their mark with a unique investment fund that is genuinely active in today’s market. You will be part of a collegiate, high-performing team that combines financial discipline with a strong sense of purpose – delivering returns that contribute to the vibrancy and liveability of Brisbane.
