Business Analyst – Utilities Transformation Program

A leading organisation within the utilities sector is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support a major technology and operational transformation program.

This role will suit someone who has worked in complex utility environments and brings specific experience across Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), smart metering or metering systems.

As the Business Analyst, you will work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors and delivery partners to support requirements gathering, process analysis, system integration and operational readiness activities.

About the role

You will be responsible for gathering, analysing and documenting business, functional, operational and integration requirements across metering systems, field operations, data flows and related business processes.

This is a hands-on Business Analyst role requiring strong stakeholder engagement, clear documentation skills and the ability to work across both business and technical teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Engaging with business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors and delivery partners to capture and validate requirements.
  • Documenting business, functional, operational and integration requirements.
  • Supporting process mapping, gap analysis and impact assessment activities.
  • Analysing end-to-end business processes, system interfaces, data flows and operational impacts.
  • Working across metering systems, smart metering platforms, field operations and downstream business systems.
  • Supporting requirements traceability, acceptance criteria, testing, UAT and operational readiness activities.
  • Identifying risks, issues, dependencies and business impacts across the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitating workshops and prepare clear documentation for project and governance forums.
  • Supporting go-live, transition and post-implementation activities.

About you

You will be an experienced Business Analyst with a background in utilities and specific exposure to AMI, smart metering, metering systems or related utility technology environments.

You will be confident working with business and technical stakeholders and able to translate complex requirements into clear, practical documentation.

Essential experience

  • Proven Business Analyst experience within a utilities environment.
  • Specific experience working across AMI / Advanced Metering Infrastructure, smart metering or metering systems.
  • Strong understanding of smart meters, metering platforms, meter data, field operations or related utility processes.
  • Experience documenting requirements, process maps, business rules, data flows and system impacts.
  • Experience working with vendors, technical teams, operational SMEs and project delivery teams.
  • Ability to support testing, UAT, operational readiness and implementation activities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
