We are working with a state government client who is seeking experienced Project Manager (AO7 & AO8 level/s).
About the Role
This role will support the department to partner with Queensland Government agencies to deliver their core services, by providing state-wide planning, building and maintenance services that utilise local suppliers and the departments tradespeople and apprentices. The work you will do helps someone every day, and that means the world to us. The primary purpose of the position is to provide a high level of skill, leadership and professional knowledge in the delivery of project management consulting services.
Applicants shall demonstrate experience in the building and construction industry. Whilst not mandatory, experience with Correctional, Fire, Justice and Police projects would be highly regarded.
What you will be doing:
- Ensuring activities are implemented effectively, managed, and coordinated for the delivery of capital works across a range of programs. Manage relationships and stakeholder engagement to ensure the effective delivery and profitability of capital works building programs.
- Coordinating and managing all aspects of building project implementation activities including pre-design, design, documentation, contract administration and post construction activities and assisting in taking responsibility for the quality, cost, cash-flow, timeliness, and suitability of the building product delivered to the client.
- Coordinating the activities of other project staff, external consultants, building contractors, managers, and other business units in the achievement of project objectives.
- Coordinating regional capital related reports.
- Providing a high level of contract coordination in respect to traditional and non-traditional contract systems.
- Ensuring individual project team members (external/internal) involved in the provision of pre-design, design, documentation, contract administration, and post construction services to clients are engaged, communicated with, and coordinated effectively.
- Leading negotiations with consultants, local authorities, the client, and contractors to ensure value for money solutions are identified and delivered. Utilising experience and professional knowledge to add value to discussions and ensure appropriate stakeholder management is undertaken. This requires interfacing with clients on a day-to-day basis.
- Controlling variances by generating exception reports on time and cost aspects of projects management and performing project audits to establish project team performance as appropriate.
- Assisting the Program Manager/Principal Project Manager to determine attainable fees for services under your control and where necessary, generate the approval for the billing of clients.
About you
- Proven knowledge and experience working in the building and construction industry project management
- Queensland Drivers Licence - Class C Open
- Whilst not mandatory, experience with Correctional, Fire, Justice and Police projects would be highly regarded.Whilst not mandatory, a relevant tertiary qualification (for example, Certificate IV Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, Town Planning or Quantity Surveyor) and/or AIPM RegPM or equivalent certification would be highly regarded
The Benefits
- $88.29 per hour + Super – AO7 (PAYG Agency Contractor)
- $97.66 per hour + Super – AO8 (PAYG Agency Contractor)
- Contract up to February 2026
- Chermside or Cannon Hill location
- Monday to Friday, Full time hours
