Davidson is working with a state government client within the education sector, seeking a suitably experienced Principal Project Officer - Property to join their Infrastructure Services Division. This opportunity sits within the Acquisition & Divestment Team in the Property Services Unit.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for a senior property professional to apply strong governance, process and portfolio decision‑making expertise to support outcomes for Early Childhood infrastructure and assets, delivering lasting community benefit.


About the Role/s

As Principal Property Officer, you will play a critical role in supporting strategic decision making across the Early Childhood property portfolio. You will provide high‑level analysis and due diligence, develop and implement frameworks, templates and processes, and work closely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to rationalise tenure arrangements and strengthen portfolio outcomes.

Reporting within the Property Services Unit, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing the implementation of property programs, including portfolio reviews, rental assessments, third‑party use opportunities and leasing decision making for the Early Childhood portfolio.
  • Providing high‑level property, planning and commercial advice to support informed, consistent and defensible decision making.
  • Analysing risks, opportunities and strengths associated with leasing and third‑party use programs, ensuring alignment with governance and policy requirements.
  • Developing and improving decision‑making frameworks, performance monitoring tools, templates and processes related to Early Childhood infrastructure and property.
  • Identifying legislative and policy obligations and seeking opportunities to enhance leasing programs, reporting, community use models and Joint Development Agreements.
  • Adopting a project management approach to complex property matters to achieve coordinated and effective outcomes.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, including legal services, procurement, Early Childhood teams, regulation and communications, schools and regions.
  • Engaging with external stakeholders such as other government departments, local government authorities, community groups and neighbouring property owners to support portfolio decisions and outcomes.


About You

You are an experienced property professional with a strong background in governance, portfolio management and stakeholder engagement. You bring a strategic, analytical mindset and are confident navigating complex legislative, policy and commercial environments.

  • Experience leading the delivery of high‑quality portfolio advice and developing service responses that meet stakeholder needs and deliver quality outcomes.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with well‑developed written communication capabilities, including report and brief writing.
  • An understanding of legislation and policy impacting government property portfolios, particularly within a Queensland Government context.
  • The ability to proactively identify emerging issues, develop strategies and contribute to organisational objectives.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build productive and collaborative working relationships.

While not mandatory, the following will be highly regarded:

  • Qualifications or industry experience in property due diligence, conveyancing or property‑related legal matters.
  • Knowledge of town planning principles, leasing, property policy and relevant legislation.
