An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Principal Project Officer to play a key role in designing and delivering leadership and capability development initiatives within a large, complex public sector environment.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about building leadership capability, shaping workplace culture, and delivering high-quality learning and development solutions that have a real impact at scale.
Working as part of a small, collaborative team, you’ll lead and coordinate projects that support managers and leaders at all levels, contributing to stronger culture, capability and workforce outcomes.
About the role
In this role, you will lead the design, implementation and delivery of leadership and management capability programs and initiatives. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand capability needs, develop contemporary learning solutions, and facilitate engaging programs aligned to organisational priorities.
You’ll also manage projects end-to-end, provide expert advice to senior leaders, and support the delivery of group process design activities such as strategic planning sessions, coaching, mentoring and culture improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse capability and learning needs using stakeholder engagement, workforce data and business insights
- Design and develop contemporary learning and capability solutions aligned to organisational priorities
- Facilitate leadership and development programs using adult learning principles
- Lead and manage projects using contemporary project management methodologies
- Deliver group process design activities including workshops, coaching, mentoring and culture initiatives
- Apply change management principles to support successful delivery and adoption of initiatives
- Monitor, analyse and report on project outcomes, evaluation data and performance measures
- Prepare high-quality documentation, briefings, reports and learning materials
- Provide expert advice to senior stakeholders on leadership, capability and workforce development
- Build strong relationships across internal and external stakeholder groups
- Identify emerging trends in leadership and capability development and apply relevant best practice
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering leadership and learning programs in complex environments
- Strong facilitation skills and experience applying adult learning principles
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, including briefing senior leaders
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capability
- A collaborative, proactive and outcomes-focused approach
- A qualification in organisational psychology, learning and development or a related discipline will be well regarded.
