Davidson is working with a state government client who is seeking an experienced Principal Policy Officer.


About the Role

The Principal Policy Officer is a pivotal member of the Program team, responsible for driving analysis, stakeholder engagement, and policy development. This role is well-suited to a professional with the ability to distil technical and operational insights into concise, actionable policy guidance, while leading reform initiatives within a dynamic and complex stakeholder environment.

· Support the analysis of current contractor management practices, including identifying challenges and risks.

· Draft policy guidance, procedures, and operational tools to support safer and more effective contractor management.

· Collaborate across divisions to ensure policies are practical, understood, and embedded in business processes.

· Coordinate working groups and workshops to inform policy development and test proposed approaches.

· Prepare high-quality written materials, including briefings, internal papers, and implementation tools.

· Track and monitor reform implementation progress and provide recommendations for adjustments as needed.


About you

· Demonstrated experience in a Policy role.

· Experience in government infrastructure delivery.

· Experience in business improvement or transformation.

· Experience in complex organisations and/or the public sector.

· Experience in infrastructure contract management or procurement.

· Experience in risk and safety management in infrastructure.

· Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

· Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

· A good problem solver who can get to the bottom of problems and design practical solutions.

· Effective stakeholder management.


The Benefits

· $84.73 per hour + Super (PAYG Agency Contractor)

· Contract up to June 2026

· Brisbane, CBD

· Full-time hours, Monday to Friday
