About the Company

Davidson is working with a state government client who is seeking an experienced Principal Advisor (Finance).


About the Role

As Principal Advisor (Finance), reporting to the Finance Manager/Director, you will provide high-level financial management, analysis and advisory services to support strategic decision-making and ensure sound financial governance across the organisation

  • Lead the development, coordination and monitoring of budgets, forecasts and financial plans to support organisational objectives.
  • Provide expert financial advice and recommendations to senior management on budgeting, forecasting, financial performance, risk management and strategic initiatives.
  • Analyse financial data and trends, identify risks and opportunities, and provide actionable insights to inform business decisions.
  • Prepare high-quality financial reports, submissions, briefs and correspondence for executive management and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial legislation, policies, standards and government reporting requirements.
  • Lead and contribute to financial management improvement initiatives, including process
  • Develop and maintain effective financial controls, governance frameworks and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Provide specialist advice and support on funding arrangements, financial modelling, investment proposals and business cases.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective financial management outcomes.
  • Lead, mentor and support team members as required and contribute to a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Represent the finance function in cross-functional projects, working groups and stakeholder forums.


About You

  • Demonstrated experience in a senior finance advisory, financial management or business partnering role.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, financial analysis and governance frameworks.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, accounting standards, policies and financial management principles.
  • Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality reports and provide clear financial advice.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline are highly regarded.
  • Professional membership with CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand will be highly regarded.


The Benefits

  • $90.43 per hour + Super (PAYG Agency Contractor)
  • Sunshine Coast Location
  • Full-time hours, Monday to Friday
