Davidson is partnering with a large public sector organisation to recruit experienced Senior Planning Officers (AO6) to support a significant program of planning and development assessment work across Queensland.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced planners to contribute to complex and high-profile planning matters within a sophisticated planning environment.
About the Role
As a Senior Planning Officer, you will support planning and development assessment activities across Queensland, with responsibilities aligned to your experience and expertise.
Your work may include:
- Assessing complex development applications and providing high-quality planning advice
- Supporting the assessment of major renewable energy developments across Queensland
- Working with local governments to develop and review local planning instruments
- Reviewing planning matters against relevant legislation, policy and statutory requirements
- Undertaking research and analysis to inform planning recommendations
- Identifying planning issues, risks and potential impacts
- Preparing high-quality briefs, reports, correspondence and recommendations
- Engaging with local governments, applicants, proponents and other key stakeholders
- Managing allocated projects and competing priorities to achieve required outcomes
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A tertiary degree in Planning – mandatory
- Strong planning expertise across development assessment, statutory and/or strategic planning
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply relevant planning legislation and policy
- Strong project delivery skills and the ability to manage complex pieces of work
- Strategic thinking and sound professional judgement
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly in preparing briefs, reports and recommendations
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-management skills
- The ability to work autonomously within a complex planning environment
Experience within government, local government, infrastructure, renewable energy or complex development assessment environments will be highly regarded.
