About the Company

We are working with a state government client who is seeking an experienced Senior Management Accountant to join their Finance team. This team provides strategic financial services and advice to support effective budget management and decision-making across multiple divisions.


About the Role

This role will be responsible for delivering high-level financial services, analytics, and advice to support divisional operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing revenue and expenditure budgets, reporting cycles, and overseeing financial management activities for client divisions.
  • Preparing and analysing financial components for corporate governance and reporting requirements, including Service Delivery Statements, Financial Statements, and Estimates briefs.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining financial administration systems and reporting processes, including documentation of procedures and day-to-day operations using SAP.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant government legislation, policies, and procedures across financial and corporate matters.
  • Researching and preparing complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, and correspondence on a range of financial and corporate issues.
  • Leading projects to identify and implement improvements in financial systems, policies, and reporting processes.


About You

  • Strong knowledge of legislation and policies related to financial and corporate operations, with the ability to align advice to strategic objectives.
  • Proven experience in preparing accurate and timely financial information and advice for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines while fostering collaborative relationships with team members and clients.
  • High-level communication skills, including report writing, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • A commitment to public service professionalism and continuous improvement of systems and processes.
  • While not mandatory, strong analytical skills in budgeting, financial reporting, and financial modelling are highly regarded.
  • Membership with a professional accounting body (e.g. CPA or CA) is also highly desirable.

Benefits:

  • $79.17 per hour + Super
  • 3-month Contract with possible extension
  • Located in Brisbane CBD
