About the Company

Davidson is working with a state government client who is seeking an experienced Project Manager.


About the Role/s

  • Coordinating and managing all aspects of building projects including pre-design, design, documentation, contract administration and post construction activities and assisting in taking responsibility for the quality and suitability of the building product delivered to the client.
  • Coordinating the activities of other project staff, external consultants, building contractors, managers and other business units in the achievement of project objectives.
  • Preparation of procurement documentation, and high-level contract coordination in respect to traditional and non-traditional contract systems.
  • Interfacing with clients on day-to-day operational matters.
  • Ensuring all projects are managed to achieve the client’s scope, time, cost, cash-flow, and quality requirements and departments profitability targets.
  • Ensuring individual project team members (external or staff) involved in the provision of pre- design, documentation, contract administration, and post construction services to clients are engaged, communicated with and coordinated effectively.
  • Leading negotiations with consultants, local authorities, internal and departmental stakeholders, the client and contractors to ensure value for money solutions are identified and delivered. Utilising experience and professional knowledge to add value to discussions and ensure appropriate stakeholder management is undertaken.
  • Controlling variances by generating exception reports on time and cost aspects of projects management and performing project audits to establish project team performance as appropriate.
  • Assisting the Principal Project Manager/Senior Project Manager to determine attainable fees for services under your control and where necessary, generate the approval for the billing of clients.
  • Ensuring all quality assurance procedures within the work area are followed.
  • Prepare monthly project reports and input project specific data for auditing processes.


About you

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  • Have strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.
  • Have Project and Risk Management experience
  • PMBOK / Prince2 project management methodologies
  • Understanding of Australia Standard Consultancy & Construction contracts
  • Experience and understanding of Queensland Procurement Policy
  • Worked within the Building & Construction industry
  • National Construction Code
  • Experienced in State Planning Policies
  • Work Health and Safety
  • Strong systems experience – MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word
  • Must be able to travel for work purposes (overnight & up to 3-days) including on small/light aircraft to remote & regional areas.


The Benefits

  • $76.50 per hour + Super (PAYG Agency Contractor)
  • 3-month contract, possible extension
  • Cairns location
  • Full-time hours, Monday to Friday
