About the Company

Davidson is working with a state government client who is seeking an experienced Senior Finance Officer.


About the Role/s

  • Prepare financial reconciliations, raising journal entries and working papers and implementing appropriate policies, systems, procedures and practices to ensure the integrity of the department’s general ledger and budget development systems.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the department’s general purpose and specific purpose financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards, relevant financial management legislation and Treasury and departmental guidelines.
  • Utilise a good working knowledge of the Financial Accountability Act 2009, Financial Management Practice Manual, relevant accounting standards and business practices, and Commonwealth policies for funding and grant administration.
  • Utilise skills in information reporting software and other software programs to compile data and information and provide budget and financial management support.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial and operational policy and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of desk manuals and other administration documents.
  • Provide accurate and timely word processing, spread sheets and database support across the unit utilising appropriate software programs and complying with departmental standards and guidelines.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of financial and operational policies, procedures and practices which facilitate and support financial management within the department.
  • Liaise effectively with clients and colleagues to obtain an understanding of client needs and contribute to appropriate and effective responses to client inquiries.
  • Actively contribute to the success of the team by complying with departmental standards and branch protocols and working responsibly either alone or with others.


About you

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing financial reconciliations.
  • Good problem solving and effective communication skills as well as extensive knowledge of SAP and Excel.
  • This role may require you to assist with some asset accounting work, so this experience would be highly regarded.

The Benefits

  • $68.22 per hour + Super (PAYG Agency Contractor)
  • Contract up to June 2026
  • Brisbane, CBD
  • Full-time hours, Monday to Friday
