About the Role
As Project Engagement Officer, you will support the delivery of key stakeholder and community engagement activities for a suite of infrastructure projects including the Angus Smith Drive upgrade, Abbott Street Connection Road, Oonooba Road safety improvements, and Bruce Highway enhancements.
Working within the Northern District Customer and Stakeholder Engagement team, you will:
- Coordinate and implement timely, clear and consistent communications with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Assist in planning and delivering communication strategies and materials that align with project objectives.
- Support the team to manage engagement across a geographically dispersed audience, including local residents, road users, businesses, and local governments.
This is a hybrid role based in Townsville, with occasional travel required.
About You
You bring demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, ideally within a government or infrastructure project setting. You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to develop high-quality materials under pressure. Your understanding of regional contexts and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment will ensure your success. Government experience is essential.

- Initial 2-year contract (12 Jan 2026 – 12 Jan 2028) with potential 1-year extension
